| Comments: | My brother was in the 168th Bn. Combat Engineers. Company A. He was killed in the Rhine Crossing on March 26th, 1945. His name was Thomas Mulroy. He had been in the Army's ASTP studying Engineering at Rhode Island State Univ. The program was abruptly halted and he joined the 168th in late summer of '44. I would like to know more about where he was in Europe before his death. His V-Mail address was 280 (380?) Eng. (C) Bn. which I find confusing since I know he was with the 168th. Maybe someone can explain that to me. Thank you for this wonderful site. |

| Comments: | I got a chill when I read the records of the 150th Engineers. It was almost a direct copy of my 1306 Engineers' record. We were close from Utah Beach, across France, the Bulge, Germany, and Austria. We built bridges across the same rivers, including the Rhine. Ours was also built near Oppenhein but was a Bailey bridge supported on the remains of a burned-down wood pile bridge. Our paths separated after VE Day when we were redeployed directly to the Philippines, and then to Japan after VJ Day. I'm writing a historical novel of the 1306 Engineers and the Red Ball Road. I would like to contact anyone familiar with our part in the War. Thank you, 150th Engineers. You have a great website. Max Schwartz, formerly Mst/sgt, S-3 1306 G.S. Engineer Regiment |

| Comments: | I did a search on 'Combat Engineers' I am doing a little research. I have met an old combat engineer vet here in Waynesboro Pa who landed with the 29th Division on D-day and fought all the way to V-E day. Since I am a 21 year Navy vet in our conversation he indicated that he had served. When he told me that his unit was attached to the 29th I asked him if he had landed at Omaha beach. He gave me a little bit of his trek across Europe. I was enjoying the experience of talking to this man when he burst into tears. He really is totally incapable of detailing his WWII experience. We have talked several times but anytime it gets close to his military service he chokes up. I am trying to do a little research to understand what he might have gone through. All though he told me what unit he was with I don't remember. So, I am snoopin around a little to see what I can come up with. You got a pretty good site and I appreciate that you are saving our history. R/ Don Freeman |

| Comments: | This is a great site! I am like many others who have sign on...I am looking for information about my father's service during WWII. My father, First Lt. Kenneth A. McKethan received the Silver Star while serving with the Army of the United States on March 3, 1945. He was leader of the 2nd platoon, Co. 'H,' 67 Armored Regiment which was acting as point for a task force penetrating into enemy territory in an effort to cross the Adolf Hitler bridge and secure a bridgehead on the East bank of the Rhine (taken from local newspaper account). If there are folks who can assist me in my search for information about his unit, I would love to hear from you! |

| Comments: | My father, 78, served w/351st Combat Engineers, Company A-- it's is amazing to look through this and other sites to see how many second and third generations are seeking and sharing information about these brave men and what they sacrificed. My father did depart from Fort Devens (still lives in a nearby town) and spent three years overseas. As children and grandchildren, we have heard so many stories about the Rhineland, Ardennes, Bulge, Luxemburg, Normandy, etc. It's is wonderful to be able to share this information via the internet, as this was such a huge part of their lives--the memories are still as real today as they were 45 years ago. To find someone who walked in the same shoes is such a treasure! I recently attended an "Operation Recognition" ceremony, where my father and 25 other military veterans received their high school graduation diplomas in a middle/high school gymnasium (grades 5-12 in attendance.) The students listened to every word spoken-- they were in awe to hear that the men and women seated in front of them had left high school to fight for their freedom, coming back too old at 21 and 22, as well as shaken, to finish their education. He would love to hear from anyone in the 351st Combat Engineers. Kudos for such a great site and tribute! |

| Comments: | I've just arrived at your site. It looks wonderful. Thank you for all of your efforts. I'm looking for mention of my father-in-law Russell Baker then of Galesburg IL who came ashore on D_Day 2 and eventualy made it to Nuremburg by way of the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Baker now lives in Watsonville CA, and is still putting in full weeks as a charter bus driver. He amazes me now and his past is riveting. I read Stephen Ambroses "Citizen Solider" and Mr. Baker started telling me the stories of his time in Europe. I would love to find some kind of official record of his work there. Thanks for your time. Best to you. |

| Comments: | On March 8th, 1945 I commanded Co. B 164th Eng. C Bn and crossed the Rhine River with one platoon on the Ludendorff Railroad Bridge at Remagen. Our battalion mission was to protect the bridge(s) against water bore attack to include torpedos and floating mines. A treadway bridge constructed by the 291st ECBN opened for tank traffic in the early morning hours of Mar 10th and a heavy pntoon bridge constructed bu the 51st ECBN opened for east-bound class 40 traffic early on 11 March. Until I visited your webb site I had been led to believe that the FIRST US ARMY engineers were first to bridge the Rhine in WWII. YOUR SITE IS GREAT AND i PLAN TO VISIT OFTEN. THANKS! Glade S.
